Kale Benefits:
Kale is a nutrient-dense, leafy green vegetable known for its many health benefits. Here are some of the key advantages of including kale in your diet.
- Rich in nutrients (especially for bone and skin health): Kale is particularly high in vitamins A, C, and K. Vitamin A supports eye health, skin regeneration and maintenance, vitamin C boosts the immune system and collagen production, and vitamin K is essential for blood clotting and bone health, and especially critical for improving bone density and reducing the risk of fractures. It’s a good source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron, making it beneficial for bone health and energy levels. Kale is also loaded with antioxidants like beta-carotene, flavonoids, and polyphenols that protect cells from oxidative stress.
- Heart health and anti-inflammatory properties: The high levels of fiber, potassium, and omega-3 fatty acids in kale contribute to lower cholesterol levels and reduced risk of heart disease. Kale can help improve lipid profiles by binding bile acids in the gut, leading to lower cholesterol. The omega-3 fatty acids and compounds like quercetin and kaempferol in kale have anti-inflammatory effects, which may help reduce chronic inflammation that can lead to conditions like arthritis and other diseases.
- Promotes healthy digestion and weight management: Kale is a good source of dietary fiber, which aids digestion, prevents constipation, and helps maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Low in calories and high in water content, kale is a nutrient-dense food that can help you feel full longer without consuming excess calories, making it great for weight management.
- Helps in detoxification and cancer prevention: Kale contains sulfur compounds, which play a key role in the body’s detoxification processes, especially for the liver. The presence of glucosinolates, compounds that break down into isothiocyanates in the body, may help prevent the development of cancer by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.
Anyways, for those of you who are not a health geek and just want a tasty snack, let’s move on.
Why we did it: Snacking Cheat Code
In our previous video, we showed you the kale we grew in our indoor garden. Now, we will be making kale chips with those same plants, because shamelessly, I’m addicted to salt, and I’ve grown quite the belly munching on chips throughout the day. Also, it couldn’t be easier.
(Depending on what you’re growing in your indoor garden, you may also have the munchies…)

Final Notes On How To Make Kale Chips: Snacking Cheat Code
Check the chips for firmness by grabbing the stem with your tongs. If they are saggy and soft, place back in the oven for another couple minutes. You’ll know they are done when all the parts of the leaf are crisp.
We highly recommend you watch our YouTube videos on how we grew this plant. But for now, throw on your favorite show, kick up your feet, and enjoy!
